What Extended Matrix publishes for reuse.

Three pieces are meant to be reused outside our own tools: the ontology that says what the Extended Matrix asserts, the file format that carries a study, and the controlled vocabularies the method originates. Each has a permanent identifier under w3id.org/extendedmatrix, a human-readable page and a machine-readable form.

CRMem — the ontology

The Extended Matrix extension of CIDOC CRM: the terms the method needs that the CIDOC CRM family does not provide, above all the virtual stratigraphic units and the reasoning that supports them. Every class sits beneath a class of the reference family.

Permanent URI: https://w3id.org/extendedmatrix/ontology
DOI (all versions): 10.5281/zenodo.23039146

em.json — the file format

The container of an Extended Matrix study: the stratigraphic graph, its sources and paradata, its resources and the versions it is consistent with. The same file is read and written by s3dgraphy and by every tool of the ecosystem.

Permanent URI: https://w3id.org/extendedmatrix/spec/em-json
DOI (all versions): 10.5281/zenodo.23642464

Vocabularies

Small controlled vocabularies in SKOS that the Extended Matrix originates and maintains, each with a human-readable page and its Turtle serialisation. Licensed CC BY 4.0 unless a module states otherwise.

Permanent URI: https://w3id.org/extendedmatrix/vocab/

Browsers that open a permanent URI reach the page; software that asks for RDF reaches the serialisation. The pages are generated from the sources in s3dgraphy (DOI 10.5281/zenodo.20558706) and in the vocabularies repository, so what you read is what the tools use. A DOI marked «all versions» always resolves to the latest release on Zenodo.
